I’m not fully sure how I got here (maybe a recommendation? Maybe I just forgot? Sorry if I should remember but don’t…) but HOT DAMN is it wild how similar our taste is.
An essay with humor, an unconventional metaphor for the Net of Indra, and a discourse on Anatta’s influence on our compassionate capacity? It’s like looking into a mirror!
Your rubber band metaphor is interesting! I wonder if some part of you feels subconsciously entangled, squeezed, contracted, stretched, and/or bouncy? Haha.
Yo Geoffe, thanks for your comment. I forgot I had this substack for the past year or so, haha so no worries. I'll check out your stuff as well, always interested in viewing things from many varying perspectives :)
Dang I just looked up Indra's net and its the same concept but more vast and cool in its extent than my rubber band analogy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indra's_net). I think I heard about this from Alan Watts or read about it elsewhere... but its been so long I had forgot about reading it and I guess this rubber band story popped out of my mind haha.
Yeah definitely feeling all of the above -- not so much subconsciously... or rather the subconscious feels very conscious most of the time; so like entangled, squeezed, contracted, stretched, and bouncy (juicy too lol) all at the same time. Riding the chaos waves, trying to walk the middle path as either extreme (positive heaven realm or negative hell realm) and all shades in-between seem to be illusory. I'll keep aiming and intending to align more and more in the middle and see where it goes.

If so, that’s a total mood.

Mood.
Glad to have connected!
